Tell us a little about you and your brand. Who are you, and what products do you design for your brand?
We are artisan women who enjoy making jewellery with genuine, natural opals including black, white, matrix and fire opals from Honduras. We buy high-quality opals for fair prices directly from community miners and key elements of our packaging material are sourced from indigenous women cooperatives.
Our customers who love to wear a truly handmade piece of jewelry inspired by the natural beauty and cultural diversity of this country, have a direct impact on the quality of life of the rural families we work with.
We cut and polish the opals which we use in our jewellery. Our customers can also simply choose their opals to get creative themselves.

What are your sources of inspiration?
Both the diverse culture, history and nature of the Caribbean. The ocean and the jungle are sheer endless sources of inspiration.
How would you describe your product concept?
We prefer to work with opals because none is like the other. Mother Earth is incredibly creative. It is humbling to work with what she has bequeathed to humanity. We think that jewellery identifies the bearer. It is an unspoken message, a statement of a moment in our life, a person, places or beings which are dear to us. Sometimes when customers see the opals it comes across as if the opal really chooses the person and not the other way around.
Who is the target audience for your products?
People who cherish nature, perhaps even engage in activities to protect it and definitely believe in climate change and the general need for an effort towards sustainability. They prefer brands with a positive social impact and enjoy shopping from small businesses. The people who shop our jewellery are also a sort of pioneer, they like to go where few have been before. That is because opals from Honduras are an insider secret.

What skills are necessary to be a successful brand owner? Do you have any tips for new brands?
Perseverance and firm belief in your idea are key. First is the idea, then the customer who loves and supports it. Perhaps have two jobs at the beginning to make a smooth transition when you are ready..
